I honestly can not say this last year has been the happiest year of my life. It sucks, yes, but that's just how it is. My birthday was this past Tuesday. Mike baked me a chocolate layer cake and it was delicious. His Dr. wants to play it safe and keep him in the brace for most of the time. It seems like after the spica cast came off, things got hard again. My mom had to leave a few weeks earlier than planned because my step dad had surgery. Andrew's cast came off this past Tuesday. He had some sort of gauze/patch over his incision. I noticed on Sunday it was getting red and swollen all around that area. Lots of things to update on, mostly on how Andrew is doing. He turned 6 months old on May 13th. We had our geneticist appointment last month and she was surprised on how well he is doing. My baby has hip dysplasia, aka Developmental Dysplasia of the hip (DDH). When he was born, they heard a "hip click". I didn't think anything of it. When we went to our regular pediatrician, he also heard it and gave us a referral to a pediatric orthopedic. Turns out, his hips were dislocated, not really sure what caused it, but it might have been because of my low amniotic fluid during pregnancy.

Mike and I made my birthday cupcakes yesterday. I wanted something lemony and pink. So we just added the juice and zest of one lemon to our regular yellow cupcake recipe. Then we iced them with a delicious (pink) butter cream frosting that just melts in your mouth... so good!

I went to the doctor this past Friday to discuss the results of my blood work and as I had suspected, my cholesterol was very high. My liver functions were still high and don't know why, so they took more blood to see if it still came up. That's where I'll be spending my weekend along with 3 other friends. It's Candice's birthday tomorrow and she wanted to celebrate it in Miami. We'll be staying at the Deauville Beach Resort in Miami Beach. It's been raining a lot lately so I hope the rain doesn't ruin our weekend. Mike has been on vacation since last Thursday. We've been staying home, being lazy, cooking and watching mostly bad and corny movies. Mike has been having trouble with his back lately, so today he finally went to the doctor. He needs to go get blood work done (and so do I), get an x-ray of his back and also go to physical therapy. I really hope he gets better soon. We'll probably do all that this
