Happy Birthday my love...

We had some friends over for a little early birthday celebration for Mike this past Saturday. Food was great, we made a cream of mushroom soup, following a Julia Child recipe, spinach and asparagus salad with goat cheese and roasted chicken with a pan sauce. For dessert (yes, we cheated a bit on our diet with the dessert), an orange souffle with ice cream. Everything was delicious!

We also played a little bit of boardgames, watched a movie (The Wrestler) and went over to Avalon Park to see some fireworks. It was a good day overall. He got these speakers for his birthday. On Sunday, we headed over to Cool Stuff for another birthday present, a boardgame of course! He chose one called A House Divided. Happy birthday baby, I love you more than anything, can't wait to share more birthdays with you ♥

One more week

I start training for the Census job next Friday at 8:30 am. I'm getting really nervous about it. I haven't had a "real" job in about 4 years, yikes! I hope I like it and that I meet some cool people along the way. It'll also be nice to finally earn some money of my own.

My mother in law came to visit us for a couple of days. Her and I went shopping yesterday at the Florida Mall. I bought 2 button down shirts, a pair of black dress pants and a belt for my new job. I only spent $48 since a very nice guy at the Apple store, printed a coupon for me from New York and Co. that I had in my email.

Lately we've been eating lots of strawberries and bananas with homemade whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I also made fruit squares again so Mike's mom could try them, they came out even better than last time.

Mike bought a new boardgame this Wednesday. It's called Metropolys. I like it because it is simple and fast compared to other boardgames we have. I'd say it reminds me a little of Ingenious and Power Grid put together. We'll see how long until Mike gets bored with it. I'll leave you with some pictures of it. Have a good weekend!

Friday

This week went by really fast, but then again, I think all of them do. I feel like I did many things this week, for example, I went to Leu Gardens with my friend Candice. I opened Sugar Village, I finally received hubby's birthday present, I bought an online game for our PS3 which I've become quite addicted to, but I suck at it, it's called PixelJunk Monsters.

And last but not least, I stopped taking my birth control pills! Hubby and I had always said we would have a baby once I was done with school, and well, we've been talking about it and we feel like the time has come. We won't start "trying" until a couple of months though...was that tmi? Oh well! hehe I'm excited and nervous at the same time, I hope that's normal.

I'm going to an arts and crafts show at Mount Dora tomorrow, that should be fun. I have 3 commissioned paintings involving elephants for a friend in North Carolina, I'll probably work on those on Sunday, when hubby abandons me to go play geeky boardgames. Have a good weekend! I'll leave you with a little farm painting I did a few weeks ago. Toodles

Alone again

I feel like I've been busy lately, doing what, I have no clue. Hubby continues with his boardgame obsession, so we play a boardgame or two almost everyday. He left this morning for Utah, he'll be back on Friday.

My mother in law was with us this weekend. She got here Thursday night and left Sunday morning. I made meat loaf, mashed potatoes and green beans Friday night and fettuccine Alfredo on Saturday. We also watched an HBO mini series on dvd called Five Days, did a little bit of shopping and played boardgames of course.

I finally got my new phone, and because t-mobile makes everything extremely complicated, I had to get a new phone number as well.

Yesterday, we took our little Lily to the dog park again. She had a great time as usual, we even saw another sheltie. It was pretty funny because, we went on a little walk in a trail and she was ahead of us, all of a sudden we see two shelties walking towards us, we thought there was a mirror in the middle of the woods!

That pretty much sums up my weekend. My lonely week will be filled of crappy food, tv, reading and hopefully getting some paintings done. Here's another little painting I wanted to share.

Oh Deer!

Another weekend is here. Hubby will be gone all day, playing boardgames with his friends. I'll have to figure out a way to entertain myself today. I will probably paint, that's always fun!

My idea of opening an Etsy store is pretty much decided, I will sell prints of my little watercolor paintings and maybe the originals at one point. I have the name of my store picked out, I even opened a new email account with the name of my store.

I'm in the process of designing my business cards, which is harder than I thought. I found the places online where I'm going to get my mailing supplies. I have a few more things to figure out, but I'm getting there, I'm excited and nervous. Wish me luck!

Hambuglur...

This weekend, hubby went a little crazy and bought 4 more boardgames (the weekend before that, he bought 2 new ones). His boardgame buddy's wife went away for the weekend, so they pretty much played all weekend. I played one of the new games with them called Brass, it was too hard for me to enjoy, so I don't know how I feel about it yet.

Today just hubby and I played this one, called Hamburgum, (but we like to call it Hambuglur hehe). Anyway, I did enjoy playing this game. Although hubby was way ahead of me, I'll get him one day.

Catching up

-I had a great time with my parents here, especially with my mommy, she was here for an extra week. I was very upset when she left.

-I was so eager to graduate, that now I realize I really don't know what I would like to do.

-The Olympics have been going on, I can't watch them, I don't have cable and my tv doesn't get NBC. I refuse to watch them online.

-I finished reading The Other Woman by Jane Green, first time I read something by her, I really enjoyed it and it doesn't even have good reviews. I'll have to get more from the library. Currently reading The Fortune Family by Laurie Horowitz, I still can't really get into it.

-My friend Paola, that moved back to Cancun, came to Orlando for a quick trip, we went to Disney's MGM and Animal Kingdom, it was fun.

-We've been playing lot's of boardgames lately, we bought a new one this weekend. We might learn how to play it today, I think I'll like it, it's called Princes of Florence.

-It hasn't stopped raining since yesterday, but today seems to be worst.

-My mom's birthday is in 2 days, I haven't sent her anything yet, I feel bad for always forgetting birthdays.

-I made shrimp fried rice today, here's a photo of it, just because.

Yes, we're geeks

This is what we played today, it's called Puerto Rico. It's the second time I've played it and still don't understand it that well, I'm sure next time I play it I will be better at it. I enjoy playing a game or two, but I really don't like spending ALL day playing these games. We decided there will be rules next time regarding the amount of time playing or the amount of games. There needs to be a limit to this geekyness!

I finally "bought" (handed hubby my credit card number) his birthday present, he wanted another geeky boardgame, the one he picked is a 2 player one, I better like it, that's all I can say, hehehe.

We might meet up with my mother in law tomorrow for lunch or something, so that should be fun! And by the way, I'm totally not being sarcastic about that either, I'm so lucky to have such a nice mother in law, I really do enjoy spending time with her.
