Twenty Seven

I had a great birthday weekend. Even the weather was perfect! We went over to my mother in law's house Friday and Saturday. I always feel spoiled when I'm there, it's like a mini vacation. We went to see an antique car show that was going on in Lakeland, around the lake Mike and I got married. Later on we had lunch at a Mexican restaurant, where I had some delicious flautas.

Today I had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory with my friend Candice and also did a bit of shopping. Later this evening we all went to see Where the Wild Things Are. I thought it would be better and Mike thought it was better than he thought it would be, so I guess overall it was ok...

Since we haven't been home this weekend, Mike still owes me my birthday cupcakes, which will probably be the last carbs I'll be eating in a while, we definitely broke our diet this weekend. So yeah, nothing crazy or extravagant this birthday, but I was surrounded by loved ones. And not only this weekend, but lately I've been feeling pretty damn happy, I guess I could consider that an additional gift :)

Happy Birthday my love...

We had some friends over for a little early birthday celebration for Mike this past Saturday. Food was great, we made a cream of mushroom soup, following a Julia Child recipe, spinach and asparagus salad with goat cheese and roasted chicken with a pan sauce. For dessert (yes, we cheated a bit on our diet with the dessert), an orange souffle with ice cream. Everything was delicious!

We also played a little bit of boardgames, watched a movie (The Wrestler) and went over to Avalon Park to see some fireworks. It was a good day overall. He got these speakers for his birthday. On Sunday, we headed over to Cool Stuff for another birthday present, a boardgame of course! He chose one called A House Divided. Happy birthday baby, I love you more than anything, can't wait to share more birthdays with you ♥

Star Trek and Cookies

Hello! Mike and I are going to go watch the Star Trek movie later tonight. How did a girl like me get into this Star Trek mess you may ask, well let me explain. I made Mike watch the whole series of Friends and Sex and the City with me and in exchange, I would watch Star Trek with him, well let me tell you, there are enough Star Trek episodes for the next 100 years! I must find another girly series for him to watch with me.

We made peanut butter cookies last night. Although I really wanted crunchy oatmeal cookies, like the ones from Panera Bread, but we made those instead. I'm attempting to make a coconut cream pie today for my mother in law, that's the dessert she requested for tomorrow. I can blame Mike if it doesn't come out well, I'm doing it how he told me to.

I finally started working on new paintings for Sugar Village, it's going to be 3 pieces with an A, B and C. I'll show you when I'm finished with them. I want to start making paintings for any age group, because right now, they appeal mostly to people with babies. But every time I try to, it transforms into something cute, I just can't help it. Maybe one day...

Hello there!

Yes I know, I've been neglecting my blog lately. Nothing too exciting has happened. Mike was in Ohio for a couple of days for work last week. Driving is getting a bit better, I noticed my knuckles are not white and my hands sweaty anymore from gripping the steering wheel so hard. I haven't been painting or photographing anything. This job has sucked all creative inspiration from me.

On the other hand, I did get many interesting books from the library this weekend. The list is long, but I started with Dumbfounded: Big Money. Big Hair. Big Problems. Or Why Having It All Isn't for Sissies by Matt Rothschild. Honestly, I do pick my books based on their cover, 8 out of 10 times I'm right and pick out (in my opinion) good books that way. The author in 27 years old and lives in Orlando. It's about a Jewish boy growing up in the Upper East Side, it's pretty hilarious.

We also got around to watching Slumdog Millionaire this weekend, and of course I loved it. I'm so glad I was not disappointed. Another great movie we watched this weekend was called Phoebe in Wonderland, I highly recommend it. Elle Fanning is such a great actress! I didn't even realize she was Dakota's sister when I saw her in Babel (another favorite of mine).

Ok, that is all, have a good week!

Small updates

Since we went out for dinner on Valentine's Day, we had a quiet Saturday. We baked raspberry squares, which I should have cut into heart shapes, but didn't think about until they were already cut, oh well. They came out very good! We're already talking about making other flavors, maybe figs...

We also watched the movie Shop Girl. I really liked it! Even though it's a "Hollywood" movie, it had the feel of an indie movie, which I really liked. Jason Schwartzman is so funny in it! Speaking of television, Mike and I really like British sitcoms and lately we've been watching The Vicar of Dibley, and now, it's one of my new favorite tv shows.

I took Lily to the vet on Monday. She had a "hot spot" right above her tail. I didn't know what it was, so I didn't want it to spread. Her little "hot spot" costs us over $100. Oh well, at least she's never really had any health issues. I took her to Petsmart because her regular vet is kind of far, and I wasn't brave enough to drive over there. She sure got a lot of attention there, especially because of the never ending barking.

I don't remember if I had mentioned it before but, I'm working on some greeting cards to add to the shop, hopefully I'll get them printed by this week, I already tried twice, but the colors kept coming out too dark. I also want to start posting some of my favorite Etsy shops on this blog, so be on the look out for that. That way, if you ever want to give me a fabulous gift, you know exactly where to find it hee hee. Ok, I believe it's bedtime, good night!
