Monday

Happy about: Up coming travels, robins on my front yard and life in general :)

Mad about: Getting a bill from doctor for 2 minutes of her time, all she told me was that I needed to go to a fertility specialist grrrr

Mike's latest craziness: Running and walking barefoot. Which leads to his recent purchase of some Vibram FiveFingers.

Joined: Netflix. The library not having the complete Road to Avonlea series pretty much convinced us ;)

Wants: Start a small art journal, sort of collage/scrapbook.

Bought: Sula's paint and peel nail polish, it's non-toxic :)

Food: Been eating more grass fed meat and dairy. We also bought some Celtic sea salt (healthier and more minerals!)

New family member...

The Kindle DX has finally arrived at our home. Needless to say, Mike is a very happy guy right now. In the mean time, I'm researching my own future toys and gadgets...

I really want a new camera, even if it's just the Canon Rebel XSi. I posted my Rebel XT on craigslist, so if I sell it, it might be possible to make the upgrade. If I don't sell it, I think I would like to play around with a Wacom tablet.

Another little gadget I would also like to have is Professor Kobre's Lightscoop. And last but not least, I want this journal, it looks really fun to fill out. Hey, I'm only thinking about my birthday and Christmas hee hee.

I haven't shared with you more of my favorite Etsy stores. Today's shop belongs to Cori Dantini. Isn't her work lovely? I love how you can read through the vintage paper she uses to paint on. She also has a blog which you can visit right here. Enjoy!

Etsy Favorites ♥

Time for another one of my favorite Etsy artists! Her name is Michele Maule and she is awesome! No seriously, check out her store and her blog to find out more about her. She does a little bit of everything.

I'm so glad I'll be working soon, I want one of her original mixed media illustrations, either one with birds or one of her famous typewriters. I like how she delicately sews on some of her pieces, such a nice touch.

This would be nice to have...

A Yudu screen-printing system. I would love to have my own little studio one day, so I can have a whole room for my self to work in, store and organize all my art supplies. You can see a video of it here. It looks awesome!

Hello! This is my very first post featuring one of my favorite Etsy shops. I can't wait to have enough money one day to finally do a little bit of decorating around here. I want to collect prints of my favorite artists. This particular shop belongs to Elsa Mora aka Elsita. Her papercut work is amazing! You can visit her blogs here and here.

A little homesick

This is the time of year I miss the most, wishing I could be in Mexico. Even though I'm not super religious, I really miss the way my family celebrates Christmas in Mexico. Christmas Eve was more important than actual Christmas day.

We would usually get together at one of my aunts or uncles house to celebrate on Christmas Eve. We would have a posada, the whole family would split up in 2 "teams" and actually sing the litany to pedir posada. We would also have our gift exchange, have a fancy dinner (not lunch), and wait till midnight to see what "baby jesus" or sometimes Santa, left under the tree.

A traditional drink would be ponche, a hot drink, sort of like tea, but with nuts and different fruits, and we could add some sort of liquor if we preferred it that way. We would also make buñuelos, just for this day.

But instead, i'm at home, waiting for Mike to finish working. We are driving over to my mother in law's house later, have a normal day and wait until tomorrow to open up some presents and cook a nice lunch/dinner. I miss my family so much. I would love for Mike to experience a Christmas in Mexico one year.

I hope everyone has a great Christmas with their families and loved ones. Remember that presents are just temporary material things, love, friendship and family are priceless...corny I know. Merry Christmas!

I want this:

(Image taken from Beehive Kitchenware)

I found these through a post on Poppytalk. The baby spoons on their website are also adorable, and a little more affordable, but I really like the measuring spoons. Why do I have to like the expensive stuff?

I'm in the process of making bread for the first time ever, my dough just has to set for 30 minutes longer, before I put it in the oven. I'll let you know how it comes out.

As of today, these are...

Even though my birthday is until another month, I can start wishing right?

I want...

some markers. Of course what I want is always expensive, the ones I would really like are about $180 for 36. I sometimes get frustrated with using watercolors for my illustrations, I think markers would be a good option for the look I want them to have.

Here's the markers I've been looking at, from cheapest to most expensive: Blick Studio Marker Sets, Prismacolor Four-In-One Marker, Chartpak Ad Marker Set, Letraset Tria Marker and the ones I really want, Copic Original Markers.

I changed the look of my blog, I got bored of pink. It makes me want to know how to design web pages or know html, or whatever it is I need to know to make it look amazing, like some of the blogs on my blogroll.

Here's another one of my little drawings, I think he's my favorite so far, I think it's the boots and the umbrella. Have a great 3 day weekend! I might be getting a new cell phone tomorrow woo hoo.

I think I'll be needing this...

(image taken from MacroBaby)

No, I'm not pregnant! But when the time comes, this would be so lovely, I just hope I have almost one grand to blow on a stroller as pretty as that one.

Other updates, 2 guys came today to give us air conditioner quotes, I think hubby made a decision and will be calling one of them back tomorrow, thank goodness! It's been pretty horrible, I think the humidity is the worst part.

I have a lot of stuff to do before graduation! I am in urgent need of a hair cut and color, I need something to wear for graduation and I still haven't decided where to eat dinner that day, I haven't even picked up my cap and gown.

I also need to take advantage of the free health center before I graduate and make an appointment for my, what I believe are, menstrual migraines. I had one yesterday and I spent all day in bed. The nausea was as bad as the migraine. I really need some good pain killers.

It's almost midnight and I have a test tomorrow...weeeee. Good night!

Hello hello!

I did not go to class today. I wanted to stay home and paint, I can't decide on what kind of birds to paint though, so far I just have the background and a few bird sketches. I wanted to include an owl and a chickadee, but I don't like how they look together, I 'll have to stick to one species I guess.

Another thing that I was obsessing over today was chandeliers! ever since I saw the post on children's rooms on All Things Bright and Beautiful, I really want to have a baby girl one day so I can put a chandelier in her room. Or I guess I could always put it somewhere else when we move to a house.

Another thing I've been researching is bikes! So far I think what I need is a hybrid bike or a Townie, just look how pretty they are! Too bad it's almost $500. *sigh*

I'm expecting my book from Blurb to arrive next week. I'm very excited to see how it comes out. I really hope the colors aren't too different. Anyway, that's what's on my mind lately. Have a great week.
